THE COVAX Facility will replace all COVID-19 vaccines that are near its expiration date.

This was revealed by Department of Heath (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III during the four-day series of meetings called the COVAX Facility Audit.

The COVAX Facility is a global initiative backed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI),

Duque admitted, however, that he is still not sure if the vaccines procured by the private sector that are also about to expire will also be replaced by COVAX.

Duque said the series of meetings started today. He will represent the Philippines in the meetings being the head of the DOH and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion earlier said that there are about 27 million doses that are about to expire by July.

National Vaccination Operations Center head Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said before that this came from the burst of vaccines that arrived in the last part of 2021 and the first month of 2022.
