CHIEFS of police and unit commanders of the Philippine National Police (PNP) were directed to make sure that there are enough police personnel deployed in leisure areas to control crowds and that health protocols are being followed.

PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar issued the directive and likewise tasked police officers to coordinate with local government units (LGUs) and the management of establishments and leisure areas for the orderly implementation of health and safety regulations.

We expect more people to go out and will take advantage of the long weekend to be with their families. And because cemeteries are closed, they may resort to going to leisure areas. I have already directed our police personnel to guarantee that the minimum public health standards are observed in these public areas,” PGen Eleazar said.

The famous Picnic Grove in Tagaytay has resumed operations, allowing visitors from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The park is open to fully vaccinated individuals including seniors citizens while minors are still prohibited.

On the other hand, Baguio City will be opened to the public beginning November 1. All ages are allowed; however, visitors must be fully inoculated against COVID-19.

Those aged 12 to 17-years-old, meanwhile, must present a negative RT-PCR or antigen test result. The requirement is optional for those aged 11-years-old and below.

PGen Eleazar reminded the public to take note of requirements before planning visits to any leisure area to avoid encountering problems.
