Cops save drowning teen in La Union

POLICE personnel were able to rescue and save a drowning teenager in Bangar, La Union.

PSMSgt. Marlon Panitan and Patrolman Jefferson Otanes of the Bangar Municipal Police Station (MPS) in La Union rescued Andrei Lou Valdez, who was being swept by the strong ocean current 500 meters off the shore in Paratong 3.

Valdez was then brought to the Regional Health Unit in Bangar where he received proper medical attention.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar commended the cops for risking their lives to save the teenager.

“The police are willing to sacrifice their own lives in order to save our kababayan from harm,” PGen. Eleazar said.

“Many in the PNP, just like Panitan and Otanes, won’t hesitate to respond whenever they are needed,” he added.
