China to provide aid, vaccines, meds to Afghanistan

BEIJING— China announced it will provide $31 million worth of food, winter supplies, COVID-19 vaccines, and medicines to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, China’s Foreign Ministry said. 

According to Hua Chunyin, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the decision was announced on the first meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries that will be used for emergency by the Afghan people. 

China will also donate 3 million vaccine doses to Afghanistan but it is not yet clear when the schedule of the vaccines will happen, said Foreign Minister Wang Yi. 

Chinese leaders have always been mentioned that they would share their coronavirus vaccines to the world, especially in the lower-income countries, and the Chinese officials mentioned that Afghanistan would be one in the priority line. 

In a video conference meeting in Beijing, Wang stated that the US and other allies were much more obligated to provide economic and humanitarian response in Afghanistan. 

Wang called the Taliban to ease down terrorism and be united with other neighboring countries like Iran, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and Turkmenistan, to create cooperation and coordination in building a broad political structure, pursue a sagacious domestic and international policies, and create a line for terrorist forces.
