Bulacan tightens entry-exit borders

Bulacan Governor stressed that the public, specifically his province-mates, should continue taking the COVID-19 virus seriously with or without the threat of the new multiple COVID-19 variants that are circulating globally to date.

The Provincial Task Force on COVID-19, headed by Governor Fernando himself, tackled the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and all other related issues on Friday via Zoom video conference.

To protect the province, Gov. Fernando said one of the restrictions is by protecting the province’s borders. It was learned that there are a total of 15 quality control points in all entry and exit points of Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga and Bulacan while a total of 13 Bulacan Shield, two dedicated control points and 12 NLEX quality control points are still implemented.

He further instructed Bulacan Police director Lawrence Cajipe to strictly implement on those above-mentioned borders the IATF health protocols to all passing motorists particularly public utility vehicles.

Fernando said that no matter what variant of COVID-19 the province is fighting against, they will continue to treat them as enemies of health of every Bulakenyo.

“Kahit anong variant ng COVID-19 ang makapasok pero sana ‘wag naman, lahat ‘yan pinaghahandaan natin sa awa ng Diyos, malalampasan din natin ito hanggang magkaroon na ng vaccine sa atin. Patuloy lang po tayong sumunod sa health protocols,” the governor said, noting that the pandemic may have crippled the economy but not the resiliency of the Bulakenyos.

In the latest update of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) as of January 6, 2021, the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) has verified a total of 35 new laboratory results, the total confirmed cases verified is now at 10,635 with 398 reported death cases, and among alive confirmed cases, 9,683 or 91 percent have shown recovery while 554 or 6 percent are still on isolation and monitoring in hospitals and/or temporary and monitoring facilities.

It is also stated in the report that out of 13,361 specimens sent to National (RITM), Subnational (LCP), and other Department of Health (DOH)- accredited molecular laboratories, 10,635 yielded positive, while 2,637 had negative results, two equivocal/indeterminate results and 87 specimens are still awaiting result.

Bulacan remains under Modified General Community Quarantine.
