BREAKING: VP Duterte, Congressman Paolo Duterte fly to The Hague amid Former President’s arrest

Manila, Philippines – Vice President Sara Duterte and her brother, Davao City 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, departed for The Hague, Netherlands, on Wednesday morning to accompany their father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, following his arrest.

Duterte was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 11, after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of alleged crimes against humanity. He reportedly left the Philippines on a private jet bound for The Hague.

A high-ranking official confirmed that Vice President Duterte departed at 7:50 a.m. via Emirates through Amsterdam, while Congressman Paolo Duterte left earlier at 5:45 a.m. via Cathay Pacific from NAIA Terminal 3.

The same official indicated that a team of lawyers is expected to follow as legal proceedings unfold.

This development marks a critical moment in the ongoing ICC investigation into Duterte’s controversial drug war, which has faced accusations of extrajudicial killings. The former president has repeatedly denied the allegations, insisting that the ICC has no jurisdiction over the Philippines.

Further details are expected as the situation develops.
