Bong Go withdraws presidential bid

PRESIDENTIAL candidate Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go announced Tuesday that he is withdrawing his presidential bid.

He reasoned out that he does not want President Rodrigo Duterte, whom he treats more than a father, to be caught in the crossfire ahead of the elections next year.

Go added that his family does not really approve of him throwing his hat into the presidential derby, while saying that this may not yet be the right time to pursue a higher political post.

The senator earlier filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for vice president under Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

However, Go withdrew on the deadline of substitution to run as president under a new political party called Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan (PDDS).
