AGRICULTURAL products with an estimated worth of P15 million were confiscated by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Mindanao Container Terminal Port.
The smuggled goods were found in five containers by the BOC, and the joint efforts of the Port of Cagayan de Oro and Intelligence Group at the Mindanao International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (MICTSI) yard located at the PHIVIDEC Compound, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental yesterday, July 7, 2022.
The shipment is consigned to Primex Export and Import Producer, and arrived from China on July 2, 2022 and was declared as “Autolysed Yeast in Powder Form.”
According to District Collector Atty. Elvira Cruz who issued the Pre-Lodgement Control Orders (PLCOs) against the shipment upon the request of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Services – Cagayan de Oro (CIIS-CDO) Field Station when they received the misleading information from the Intelligence Division-Intelligence Group.
Contrary to the declaration of shipment, the cargo contained red and white onions and carrots, a clear violation of Republic Act 10863 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act for mis-declared goods.
