THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) said it removed from the service a top official of the agency due to several complaints it received regarding the official’s leadership.
Dismissed from the service is Atty. Gilbert Repizo, chairman of the BI’s Board of Special Inquiry (BSI).
Repizo’s name came up earlier on the issue of forcing the BI’s Bids and Awards Committee to approve the P3-billion e-gates project in the country’s airports.
Despite the order for him to vacate his post, Repizo said in a social media post that he will continue to report for work as chairman of the BSI.
He said he also wrote to Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla where he invoked Civil Service Resolution 1800692 of the 2017 Omnibus Rules on Appointments.
In his letter, Repizo informed Remulla that he cannot follow the order because he will raise the issue with the Civil Service Commission.
He also added that he gave BI Chief Joel Viado a copy of his letter.
Meanwhile, BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval confirmed that they have received Department Order 435 from the DOJ and it was immediately implemented.
The order states that Repizo will be replaced by Atty. Ruben Casibang BSI head, and that Repizo will be transferred to the DOJ.
