Bataan shrouded in darkness as nearly 600 families evacuated due to typhoon Ulysses

BALANGA CITY, Bataan- About 1,885 people or 565 families from six municipalities and one city have been subjected to pre-emptive evacuation bracing for the devastation of Typhoon Ulysess.

The evacuation was in effect as of 12 a.m. on Thursday.

All of the evacuees came from the coastal and low-lying areas of the towns of Abucay, Samal, Morong, Limay, Orion, Balanga City and Mariveles.

They are temporarily sheltered in schools, day care centers, senior citizen halls, multi-purpose halls and designated evacuation centers.

Power supply were cut off in most parts of the province as strong winds and heavy rains cause the tripping of the Limay-Balanga and Hermosa-Balanga 69KV line.

According to Penelco, the sudden power interruption affected the towns of Limay, Orion, Pilar, Bagac, Morong, Abucay, Samal, Orani, Hermosa and Balanga City.
