Bataan advances Green Mobility with new EV charging stations at Vista Mall and SM City

BALANGA CITY – The push for sustainable transport in Bataan gained momentum this year with the inauguration of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at Vista Mall Bataan and SM City Bataan, marking a significant step in the province’s commitment to green mobility.

On Monday, Governor Joet Garcia, joined by Bataan 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia, former Senate President Manny Villar, and Rep. Camille Villar, unveiled the EV charging station at Vista Mall Bataan. The facility features a 40kW fast charger and a Level 2 charger, both available for free. Governor Garcia highlighted the impact of Executive Order 12 (2023), which eliminated tariffs on EV imports, making EVs more accessible to Filipinos.

Earlier this year, SM City Bataan launched its own EV charging station as part of SM Supermalls’ nationwide sustainability campaign. Equipped with the Wallbox Pulsar Plus AC charger, capable of up to 7.4kW, the station offers free daily charging from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Located near Entrance 1 parking, it supports various EV brands such as Audi, BMW, and Hyundai. This initiative is part of the SM Green Movement, aimed at reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.

These charging stations represent a major stride in Bataan’s efforts to promote sustainable transportation solutions. With these developments, the province reinforces its status as a leader in green innovation in the Philippines.
