TWO days after being told to transfer “elsewhere,” the controversial Palace official opted to be discharged from the Philippine General Hospital where he spent six days in view of what he claims as a re-infection of the deadly virus from Wuhan, China.
In an online press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced his departure from the government-designated COVID-19 referral hospital.
“Broadcasting for the last time in PGH, I will be discharged today after six days,” said Roque, without saying whether or not he’s transferring to a temporary treatment and isolation facility as recommended by the PGH doctors.
Roque, who used the press briefing as an opportunity to thank the PGH staff and his well-wishers, insisted that he was not given preferential treatment at the PGH, adding that it even took him four days to secure a room.
“I was in an ordinary room. It took four days before I could actually enter. It was only when my oxygen level went down to 90 when I was asked to come in,” Roque told reporters.
The Palace mouthpiece was at the receiving end of nasty remarks over what critics claim as unusual instant admission in a saturated government hospital where more than a hundred other COVID-infected patients are waiting in line for their turn to be admitted and treated.
Interestingly, Roque remains defiant on request for him to show his RT-PCR test results.
