The House of Representatives is all set and ready for the final State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Monday, July 26.

House Engineering and Physical Facilities Department (EPFD) Deputy Secretary General Engineer Floro Banaybanay disclosed that they have installed an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation or UVGI system in the Main Building. This will make the Plenary Hall safer and cleaner.

“Now I think it’s much safer sa session hall because we just installed our ultraviolet germicidal installations,” Banaybanay said.

UVGI is a technology that makes use of a specific ultraviolet light wavelength to deactivate the DNA or RNA of microorganisms and pathogens, disrupting their ability to multiply and cause disease.

He likewise said that they would be installing a big LED television at the South gate so people passing by the Batasan Complex and those who have no access to the SONA will have the chance to watch the session in the morning, as well as the SONA proceedings in the afternoon.

He said as for the beautification of the complex grounds, the gardens and tall trees have already been spruced up with the walkways rejuvenated and gutters cleaned and painted. Banners have been put up not only inside the complex but along Commonwealth Avenue, along its flyover and overpass leading to the House of Representatives.
