Etiqa Philippines is marking its seventh anniversary under the Etiqa brand, celebrating a milestone that reflects both its transformation as part of the Maybank Group and its nearly 70-year legacy of providing insurance protection to Filipinos.
The company joined Etiqa International Holdings, the insurance arm of the Maybank Group, in 2019. While the Etiqa brand has been in the Philippines for seven years, the insurer traces its roots to 1958, giving it decades of experience serving individuals, families, and businesses through life, health, general insurance, and Takaful solutions.
“Seven years as Etiqa represents more than a brand milestone. It reflects our continuous journey of transforming insurance to better serve the evolving needs of Filipinos,” said Anthony Lou Bernabe, president and chief executive officer of Etiqa Philippines. “Guided by our purpose of humanizing insurance, we remain committed to simplifying protection, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering on the promises we make to every customer, partner, and community we serve.”
Backed by the Maybank Group, one of ASEAN’s leading financial services institutions, Etiqa offers customers access to a broad portfolio of insurance and financial solutions. Through its exclusive bancassurance partnership with Maybank Philippines, as well as its Employee Benefits and Group Insurance business, the company serves both individual and corporate clients in the Philippines and abroad, including multinational organizations through its partnership with Insurope.
As one of the country’s few insurers holding a composite license, Etiqa provides life, non-life, and Takaful solutions under a single organization. The company is also recognized as a pioneer of Takaful in the Philippines, expanding access to ethical and inclusive insurance products for underserved communities.
Over the past year, Etiqa has undertaken a major operational transformation aimed at improving reliability and customer service. The company said it strengthened claims management, enhanced relationships with healthcare providers, reduced turnaround times, and raised customer service standards throughout 2025, resulting in a better overall experience for policyholders and business partners.
The improvements were reflected in its claims performance, with the insurer paying more than PHP3.8 billion in insurance claims in 2025, reinforcing its commitment to providing financial protection when customers need it most.
Etiqa’s customer-focused initiatives have also received industry recognition. Since 2021, the company has earned multiple honors from the Insurance Asia Awards for excellence in customer experience, customer service, and corporate social responsibility.
The insurer also recently relocated to its new LEED-certified headquarters at The Atrium in Makati, a move it said supports innovation, employee well-being, and sustainability.
