MANILA, Philippines — December 22, 2025 — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded more than 54,000 sea passengers nationwide in the early hours of Monday as the holiday travel surge for Pasko 2025 picked up.
In an advisory, the PCG stated that from midnight to 6 a.m. on December 22, the PCG logged 27,320 outbound passengers and 26,735 inbound passengers across all ports in the country. To ensure passenger safety and smooth operations, personnel from the 16 PCG Districts conducted inspections on 154 vessels and 132 motorbancas.
In anticipation of increased passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year period, the PCG has placed all its districts, stations, and sub-stations under heightened alert from December 20, 2025 until January 4, 2026. The move is part of the agency’s annual security and safety measures aimed at preventing maritime incidents during the peak travel season.
The PCG likewise reiterated its commitment to maintaining maritime safety through strict enforcement of sea travel regulations, vessel inspections, and the continuous deployment of personnel in major ports nationwide.
Passengers with inquiries or concerns regarding sea travel protocols are encouraged to coordinate with the PCG through its official Facebook page or contact the Coast Guard Public Affairs Service (CGPAS) at 0927-560-7729.
Authorities also advised the public to arrive early at ports, follow safety guidelines, and cooperate with maritime personnel to ensure a safe and orderly holiday journey.
