QC LGU considers smart data system to boost public services

QUEZON CITY — As part of its push for smarter and more efficient governance, Quezon City is exploring the use of a digital platform that promises to transform how it gathers and uses data for public service planning and delivery.

Mayor Joy Belmonte recently met with Kevin Lee of DataBridge Technology Solutions to discuss the potential implementation of the Comprehensive Household Information System (CHIS) — a technology-driven solution designed to help local government units collect accurate, real-time, and community-level data.

According to Lee, CHIS can provide the city with a centralized and organized data system that would serve as a critical tool for crafting programs and policies tailored to the actual needs of Quezon City residents.

“Access to quality data is key to effective governance. With tools like CHIS, we can better design services that are timely, inclusive, and responsive to the real issues of our people,” Mayor Belmonte said during the meeting.

Several key city department heads were also present to assess the system’s potential for integration into current city operations. Among them were:

Dr. Ramona Abarquez, Officer-in-Charge of the City Health Department

Bianca Perez, Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office

Jed Gomez, Head of the City Planning and Development Department

Mary Ann Cruz, Head of the Information Technology Development Department

The proposed system aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to digitize its services, improve transparency, and enhance decision-making based on reliable data. It also supports Quezon City’s broader goal of becoming a model for digital governance in the country.

The city government is expected to conduct further evaluations of the platform before entering into any partnership.
