QUEZON CITY — The Quezon City Government is fast becoming a top choice for on-the-job training (OJT) among senior high school and college students, thanks to the success of the Quezon City Internship Program (QCIP) launched in 2022.
Since its inception, QCIP has attracted 1,950 student applicants—solidifying the city’s reputation as a dynamic and nurturing training ground for future professionals.
Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed pride in the city’s appeal as an OJT destination.
“This is a clear sign that this generation sees public service as a meaningful career path—one where they can truly make a difference. It’s heartening to see that the values of leadership and service are alive and well in our youth,” she said.
Belmonte also emphasized the program’s deeper impact on governance.
“Every student who chooses public service contributes to our mission of promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance,” she added.
The program’s largest contingents of interns have come from Quezon City University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Carlos P. Romulo Senior High School, National University-Fairview, and Lucrecia R. Kasilag Senior High School.
Among city departments, the Quezon City Public Library hosted the most interns with 325, followed by the Human Resource Management Department, the Department of Engineering, the Parks Development and Administration Department, and the Tourism Department.
“We hope that through QCIP, students gain essential skills and practical knowledge that will empower them in any career they pursue,” the mayor noted.
QCIP’s success has also earned recognition from several academic institutions, including National University-Fairview, the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Saint Pedro Poveda College, and Lucrecia R. Kasilag Senior High School.Interested students may apply via Kalibrr.
