BJMP wins Outstanding Digital Campaign Award for viral recruitment campaign

THE Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) received the Outstanding Digital Campaign Award – Viral Impact Category during the inaugural PARANGAL: Gawad ng Kahusayan sa Komunikasyong Pampubliko, held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The event, organized by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), recognizes exceptional communication strategies by government agencies and local government units.

The Viral Impact Award celebrates social media campaigns that achieve extraordinary reach, engagement, and influence.

The BJMP’s recruitment campaign, which creatively spotlighted the impactful role of jail officers and the opportunities within the Jail Bureau, stood out for its ability to resonate with a wide audience.

Joining the “No Sé Qué Pasó” Trend

The BJMP’s success stemmed from its innovative use of the viral “No Sé Qué Pasó” trend, a sensation on platforms like Facebook and TikTok. This trend, set to Dominican artist Chimbala’s popular track, features humorous or surprising scenarios.

On October 18, 2024, the BJMP released a recruitment video aligning with the trend. The video humorously depicted a civilian tripping over a flyer about becoming a jail officer, transforming them into one. It highlighted core duties such as handcuffing, searching, and escorting, as well as key programs like the Alternative Learning System aimed at the welfare of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

The video went viral, garnering 2 million views within 12 hours and earning the BJMP Official Facebook Page 7,231 new followers on the same day. To date, the video has achieved:

Celebrating Success

“This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our Community Relations Service team. Beyond recruitment, our campaign embodies the heart of the Jail Bureau’s mission – to serve with integrity and inspire positive change. We will continue to engage the public through impactful communication initiatives.”

Impact Beyond Social Media
