NURTURING Responsible Road Users Through Education
In line with its commitment to road safety, NLEX Corporation, a member of the MPTC Group, launched a picture book titled Ang Bida ng Kalsada at the National Library of the Philippines. Designed to instill values of responsible road usage in young minds, the book features engaging stories and vibrant illustrations aimed at educating children about road safety.
To date, 2,000 copies have been distributed to Grades 3-6 students across 20 public schools in host communities and to other organizations.
Similarly, MPT South released an updated version of its book Bayani ng Kalsada (Bayani Ka), which teaches children about road signs and safe behavior on and off expressways.
The updated version has reached over 1,000 students, with 420 copies donated to schools, libraries, and institutions.
Lighting Up for World Children’s Day
On November 20, MPTC demonstrated its commitment to creating safer roads for children by illuminating key structures in blue for World Children’s Day. These included NLEX Corporation’s headquarters in Balintawak, the NLEX Drive and Dine rest stop in Valenzuela, MPT South’s LEED Gold-Certified South Hub in Imus City, and the iconic Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway.
MPTC also utilized its expressway network and digital platforms to amplify the day’s message, displaying road safety campaigns on billboards and online channels to promote awareness and empowerment for a safer future for children.
Advancing Child Rights and Safety Initiatives
This year, MPTC made significant strides in integrating Child Rights and Business Principles (CRBP) into its operations. In partnership with the Ateneo Human Rights Center (AHRC), the company conducted a four-day workshop with representatives from sister companies PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. Looking ahead, MPTC plans to conduct a Child Rights Impact Assessment (CRIA) in 2025 to further strengthen its child safety efforts.
Recognition for Excellence
MPTC’s sustained efforts in child road safety have earned accolades, including the Department of Health’s Healthy Pilipinas Gold Award, the Asia CEO Awards, and the ESG Business Awards 2024.
By championing education, advocacy, and strategic initiatives, MPTC continues to lead the way in creating safer roads and fostering a brighter future for children.
