THE Office for Transportation Security (OTS) provides support to help boost security measures that will be implemented in time for Traslacion 2024, the popular annual event that celebrates the transfer of the image of the Black Nazarene from Intramuros to its current home, which is the Quiapo Church in Manila.
The OTS, which is under the Department of Transportation (DOTr), already deployed Security Screening Officers and installed x-ray machines at the entrance to the Quiapo Church that will help detect any prohibited items that may be used as weapons and help protect the devotees that are expected to flock to church.
Yesterday, the OTS was able to confiscate items such as “balisong” or fan knife, and bullets from some churchgoers.
According to OTS Office-in-Charge Assistant Secretary Jose Briones Jr., the OTS already deployed agency personnel to ensure the safety of devotees during the Traslacion.
