AS part of its preparations in response to challenges brought about by climate change and global warming , an estimated over 20,000 force multiplier are being readied by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
According to PCG Commandant Admiral Artemio Abu, the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) forces are ready to assist the PCG on rescue missions whenever there will be flash floods, and in the conduct of humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations.
During the 37th National Convention of the PCGA held in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu, Admiral Abu thanked the continued spirit of volunteerism being displayed by the PCGA, like its assistance during the time of the pandemic, in providing their time and resources such as medicines, vitamins, hygiene kits and personal protective equipment to help fellow Filipinos, and the holding of activities such as conducting coastal clean-up activities.
For his part, PCGA National DIrector, Auxiliary Vice Admiral Manuel Luis Idquival, promised that the PCGA will continue to help and protect the environment and faces all challenges as the country transitions to the so-called “new normal.”
