THE Jose Rizal University Lady Bombers sent the Sand Beda Lady Red Spikers home with a victory at the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament.
Three sets were what JRU needed to dispatch San Beda, 25-19; 25-16 and 25-19.
JRU thus needs to triumph in their next game against Lyceum to gain entry into the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Lyceum Lady Pirates needed five sets, 25-27, 25-22, 16-25, 25-18, 15-13, to dispose of a pesky San Sebastian Lady Stags side in a thrilling second game.
It was the service ace of Venice Puzon of the Lady Pirates that took the fight out of the gritty Lady Stags.
It’s now a battle royale for a playoff spot between Lyceum and JRU, both toting four wins and four losses.
