AN infectious diseases expert fears a possible surge in COVID-19 cases may happen in the next 2-3 months.
This fear came amid the frenzy of the ongoing election campaign, the summer vacation and the Lenten season, yet the turn out for booster shots remained low.
Dr. Rontgene Solante said that it is not far-fetched that local campaign rallies and the surge of people in various vacation destinations become super-spreader events.
They also observed that many are not wearing face masks even if many still need to get their booster shots.
According to Solante, these things can be reasons for another surge of transmissions and surge of infection that will eventually lead to an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Solante urged the public not to think twice to have their booster shots in order to increase the level of immunity and protection against the virus.
