THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said that the alleged data leak at Smartmatic has got nothing to do with the upcoming national and local elections.
According to Comelec Chairman Saidamen Pangarungan during a courtesy call between the Comelec and Smartmatic, the alleged data breach involved only activities of the company.
It was learned that the employee responsible was already sanctioned.
Pangarungan likewise warned Smartmatic that this incident must not happen again.
The poll body chief added that they are still waiting for the official report of the National Bureau of Investigation before taking action on the issue.
