Ex-soldier jailed in Valenzuela for stealing a bicycle

A 52-year old man who introduced himself as a former member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) was arrested for stealing a bicycle in Valenzuela City.

Police Major Tessie Lleva, chief of the Valenzuela Police Sub-Station 3, identified the arrested suspect as Gerardo Patio, alias “Gary,” and a resident of Malolos City, Bulacan, who also yielded a gun and a bladed weapon upon his arrest.

According to P/Major Lleva, while manning a Comelec checkpoint along McArthur Highway, Barangay Marulas, they saw a man shouting “Magnanakaw, Magnanakaw, may baril may baril” in the direction of Patio who was aboard a bicycle.    

When accosted, the police also recovered from Patio caliber .38 revolver with three bullets, a knife holstered in his waist. Patio also failed to present a document regarding his gun.

According to Major Lleva, Patio introduced himself as a former member of the AFP and was dismissed back in 2000. He also admitted that he was jailed in 2016 for selling illegal drugs and was released only last year..

The suspect faces Robbery with Threat and Intimidation, violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions) and BP 6 in relation to Comelec Resolution Number 10728.
