THE province of Davao del Sur was able to secure a total of almost P8 million in livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Through the DOLE Integrated livelihood Program (DILP), around 50 beneficiaries, including the Kiblawan Small Farmers Association, were able to receive P300,000 for rice and the veterinary supplies retailing station project.
The DILP is one of DOLE’s flagship programs that provides economic opportunities for the weak and the marginalized workers by providing them with access for capacity building for their entrepreneurial ventures, either individuals or groups.
The local government units of Digos City and Magsaysay were also able to receive P1,754,280 and P299,800, respectively, for the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD) in the province.
Also, the Free Planters Cooperative was able to receive P5,575,680 for the implementation of the Government Internship Program (GIP) in the province.
This means a total of P7.929 million in livelihood assistance was awarded to the province.
The GIP seeks to provide opportunities for young workers to develop their skills with regard to public service and in the process be enticed to continue with a career in government service.
“The regional office is determined to bring more assistance, especially to the displaced workers in the region, through our various livelihood and employment programs. We are also motivated to improve and enhance our delivery of programs and services to support more workers during this challenging time,” according to DOLE XI OIC-Regional Director Atty. Randolf Pensoy.
