PLANS to sow terror were quashed when two suspected members of the Daulah Islamiya terrorist group were slain in an encounter in Barangay Lapu, Polomolok, South Cotabato.
Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division Commander Major General Juvymax Uy identified the fatalities as Zypol Nilong and Salahudin Usman, said to be under the command of Zaiden Jade Nilong, alias Aliboy, of the DI- Maguid Group.
The two were slain after their group figured in an armed encounter with government forces under the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion of the Philippine Army.
Other members of the group fled the scene after the firefight that lasted approximately five minutes, while government troops recovered the bodies of the two slain terror group members and two M-16 rifles.
