Lady cop gives birth in Crame assisted by COVID-infected personnel

IT was police service at its finest even beyond the call of duty.

On September 16, a lady cop assigned at the Manila Police District-Station 9 (MPD-9) went into labor inside the Kiangan facility in Camp Crame, Quezon City but could no longer be transferred to a hospital because of imminent childbirth.

Seeing her in distress, two COVID-infected patients admitted in the facility, a Philippine National Police (PNP) physician and a non-uniformed personnel (NUP), helped the lady cop, a patrolwoman who is also COVID-19 positive, safely give birth to a baby boy.

PNP doctors are currently monitoring the condition of both the baby and his mother.

PNP Chief, Police General Guillermo Eleazar, commended the PNP physician and the NUP for helping their colleague give birth.

I salute our two cops who helped give birth to a colleague because despite their own ailment, they still managed to provide help to other people’s needs,” PGen Eleazar said.

He added, “These are the kind of PNP personnel that others should emulate, about service to others before themselves.”

The PNP Chief assured full assistance to the Patrolwoman and her baby, especially in ensuring their health and safety.

We will provide assistance to our patrolwoman and her son, moreso now that the mother is COVID-infected,” he said.

Our doctors will do everything for her early recovery. They will also strictly monitor the condition of the new-born baby to ensure that he is healthy,” PGen Eleazar added.
