THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) captured three violators of environmental laws in Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City.
NBI OIC-Director Eric Distor named the three individuals as Richie Gimongala, Allan Rosales, and Rolly Selos.
In a statement, Distor said based on the information received by the NBI, the three were apprehended for occupying, dwelling, constructing, and maintaining permanent structures within the Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape, which is protected under the National Integrated Protective Area System, without permits.
Distor also added that the offenses made by the three suspects are continuously being committed in view of the public, based on surveillance operations conducted by the NBI-Environmental Crime Division, which confirmed the information.
According to the Antipolo Prosecutor’s Office in Rizal, the three criminals violated Section 20 of R.A 7686, also known as the “National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act of 1992” and as amended by 11038 and Section 81 (formerly Section 71) of Presidential Decree No. 705, known as “The Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines” and were presented for inquest proceedings on August. 25.
