Traffic violator shoots two men, crashes onto teen in apparent getaway

AT least three individuals were injured in an attempt by a motorist to escape after being caught with a traffic violation.

Around 11:15 a.m., Friday, the Raxabago Tondo Police Station received a phone call from SM PCP led by PCpt. Fredwin Sernio.

John Gabriel Villegas Orosco, who was onboard a Mitsubishi sedan with an allegedly tampered plate, was apprehended by Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) member Mark Melan y Sumulong for a traffic violation.

According to Joel Miranda Hernando, another MTPB personnel who served as witness, together with 59-year-old Danieling Estinor Dela Cruz, a barangay tanod of Brgy. 128, and 28-year-old taxi driver, Jomari Dacara Galang, Orosco sped away towards the Navotas area after ignoring Sumulong’s instruction to park his vehicle, which prompted the MTPB to give chase.

In his attempt to drive away from his pursuers, Orosco slammed into 16-year-old George Alcalde Andan. who was on his bicycle along Honorio Lopez Boulevard. Despite the collision, the suspect still managed to drive away.

Heading along Mel Lopez Boulevard, Sumulong continued to chase Orosco. The suspect, however, responded by shooting Sumulong and eventually sped off using the motorcycle.

A 34-year-old passerby, Renante Lepaopao, was hit by a stray bullet on the buttocks.

Severely injured, Sumulong and the other victims, were rushed to the Tondo Medical Center to receive treatment.

Sumulong was already declared in stable condition. There is no information yet regarding the other two victims’ conditions.

Manila Police District Scene of the Crime Operatives (MPD-SOCO) led by PLt. Gloria Cortez recovered four (4) fired cartridge cases at the crime scene.

Meanwhile, recovered inside the vehicle used by Orosco were 20 pieces of live ammunition and drug paraphernalia (water pipe), which are now under the custody of MPD SOCO.

A blue stripe plastic, assorted Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform, cards, a helmet marked with Titan (NHJ), a Mitsubishi black bag containing assorted papers under the name of Maria Olivia Revilla Mirage G4 GLX Cut as registered owner, a cellular phone with charger, a remote control pioneer, and an ECQ ID under the name of James Cruz were also discovered inside the vehicle.

The police is still conducting follow-up operation to determine the suspect’s whereabouts.
