The Department of Health (DOH) today, April 6, 2021, reported a total of 9,373 additional COVID-19 cases, with 313 recoveries and 382 deaths.
In the latest COVID-19 Case Bulletin #388, in the overall tally of COVID-19 cases in the country, 18.8 percent (152,562) are active cases, 79.5 percent (646,381) are recoveries, and 1.70 percent (13,817) are total deaths.
Overall, there are now 812,760 COVID-19 cases in the country.
The DOH also explained that a technical issue with the case collection systems was reported, which resulted in lower reporting of COVID-19 death counts over the past week.
There were incomplete fatality numbers and data to be encoded and as a result, there were 341 deaths prior to April 2021 that went unreported.
Thus, the number of deaths reported today (382) already includes the said deaths not reported in previous counts, according to the DOH.
It also noted that there were 11 duplicates that were removed from the total case count. Of these, 3 are recoveries, while 166 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
A total of 10 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on April 5, 2021.
