The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA), which operates the LRT-2, announced a temporary halt to its operations following a Magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck most parts of Luzon this morning.
The train management said their Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety and Security Teams are currently conducting foot patrol inspections to assess the structural integrity of LRT-2.
The magnitude 6.3 tremor struck at around 7:45 a.m., on Christmas morning. The tremor was felt in major cities in the NCR, particularly Manila, Quezon City, Marikina City and Pasig City, including areas in Cainta and Antipolo, Rizal.
The 11-station, 16.75-kilometer line is the third rapid transit line to be built in Metro Manila when it started operations in 2003. It runs from Santolan station along Marcos Highway up to Recto station in Manila.
