800 Bataan fisherfolk benefit from BFAR’s cash and food aid

BALANGA CITY  — About 800 fisherfolks in the Province of Bataan who were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, received cash and food aid from Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

According to BFAR, the recipients were from the municipalities of Abucay, Bagac, Morong, Hermosa, Limay, Mariveles, Orion, Pilar and Samal and  Balanga City.

“Through the Department of Agriculture’s Cash and Food Subsidy for Marginal Farmers and Fishers which was funded by the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act, each fisherfolk got PhP3,000 cash and PhP2,000 worth of food items like rice, chicken, and eggs,” BFAR Central Luzon Regional Director Wilfredo Cruz said.

“The beneficiaries were identified by BFAR with the assistance of their respective local governments,” RD Cruz added.
