PINATAWAN ng anim na buwang preventive suspension ng Office of the Ombudsman ang walong opisyal ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) dahil sa umano’y pagkakadawit sa mga katiwalian sa ahensya.
Ipinalabas ni Ombudsman Samuel Martires ang suspension order kasunod na inihaing reklamo ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) na nagsiyasat sa kontrobersya ng paglalabas ng P2.7 bilyong pondo ng Philhealth sa ilalim ng Internal Reimbursement Mechanism policy.
Nauna nang naghain ng mga reklamong grave misconduct, gross neglect of duty at conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service ang NBI laban sa mga nasabing opisyal
Kabilang sa mga pinasususpindi ay sina PhilHealth Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Arnel de Jesus, PhilHealth COO for Fund Management Sector Renato Limsiaco, PhilHealth Senior Vice President Dr. Israel Paragas of Health Finance Policy Sector at limang iba pa.
Layon ng suspensyon na maiwasan umanong maimpluwensyahan ang pagpapatuloy ng pagsisiyasat sa isyu. Inatasan ng Ombudsman si Philhealth President and CEO Dante Gierran na ipatupad ang suspension order.
