AROUND 37 Filipinos based in Ukraine are now on their way to the border in Poland so they can go home to the Philippines, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
During the Laging Handa public briefing, DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Sarah Lou Arriola said that the Filipinos will undergo processing for repatriation once they reach the Ukrainian capital city of Kyiv.
They will then make their way to the Polish border by land since all airports in Ukraine were already closed, according to Arriola.
As of now, six Filipinos are already in the country coming from Ukraine.
Arriola then appealed to Filipinos in the embattled country to inform the Philippine embassy in Ukraine of their status and their whereabouts so they could be properly assisted.
Arriola said that there are currently only 181 Filipinos are accounted for, even if more than 300 are supposedly living in Ukraine.
She said it is important that the other Filipinos remaining in Ukraine to inform the Philippine embassy there or the honorary consul so they can be included in the list for repatriation or relocation to a much safer area.
