CAMP VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – TWO carnappers died instantly in a shootout with police in Barangay Balayhangin, Calauan City in Laguna.
In a report reaching the office of Regional Highway Patrol Unit-4A (RPHU-4A) Chief Police Col. Sam Belmonte, prior to the encounter, a motorcycle rider named Crisanto Delos Santos of Barangay Bitin, Bay, Calauan was held at gunpoint along the national road of Barangay Lamot at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17.
The unidentified suspects forcibly snatched Delos Santos’ cellphone and his motorcycle before speeding away from the scene.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the Calauan Municipal Police station which alerted the Highway Patrol Unit and the 1st Laguna Provincial Mobile Force Company (LPMFC) to conduct a follow up operation against the two armed men.
Authorities eventually located the suspects’ whereabouts in Purok 3, Barangay Balayhangin where the encounter ensued.
The intense gunfight which lasted several minutes resulted in the death of the suspects.
It was learned after the shootout that a certain Police Staff Sergeant Diosdado Casupang Jr., a member of the Calauan Municipal Police Station (CMPS) was hit by a bullet in his leg and he’s now recuperating at a hospital.
SOCO team recovers one cal. 45 pistol and one cal. 38 near the suspects cadaver while two motorcycle believes to be stolen were also recovered by authorities.
