THE number of new COVID-19 cases in the country today went down slightly with 7,443 new cases, according to the latest COVID-19 Case Bulletin released today, May 29, 2021, by the Department of Health (DOH).
This brings the total COVID-19 cases in the country to 1,216,582, while active cases moved up to 53,614, or about 4.4 percent of the overall national case count.
The DOH also recorded 7,533 recoveries today to bring to 1,142,246 the number of individuals who have recovered already from the fatal disease.
However, there were also 156 deaths recorded today for a total of 20,722 COVID-19 fatalities.
Latest report from the DOH revealed that all laboratories were operational on May 27, 2021 while only two laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the two laboratories that failed to report contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested and 0.7 percent of positive individuals.
A total of 15 duplicates were removed from the total case count, wherein 14 are listed as recoveries.
There were also 91 cases tagged earlier as recoveries but reclassified as deaths after final validation.
