19 candidates to be given police escorts by the PNP

A TEAM of protective security or police escorts will be provided to 19 candidates during the election period.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) approved the Certificate of Authority, which underwent thorough deliberation before it was allowed, thereby allowing candidates to have police escorts.

According to Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) Spokesperson Police Major Jackson Cases, eight of those granted police escorts are those running for representative of their province.

Also, three senators, two mayors, two vice mayors and four private individuals who are also candidates will be provided with police escorts.

For now, Cases said they are still processing a number of applications for Certificate of Authority.

Cases advised applicants to complete the documentary requirements for application before submitting them to avoid being disapproved.

Likewise, the PSPG advised police personnel to be assigned as police escorts of candidate to refrain from joining campaign activities and instead focus their attention on providing security and avoid any violations.
