A new Grand Slam men’s singles champion will be crowned for the first time in six years.

This after Novak Djokovic, the favorite for the men’s singles title at the US Open, was disqualified in the competition today.

The world No. 1 male tennis player accidentally hit a line judge on the neck after he hit the ball back off his racket.

The tournament rule book states that players who hit another person on the court can be automatically disqualified from the competition by way of a loss.

Due to this unfortunate incident, Pablo Carreno Busta, the No. 20 seed who reached the semis in 2017 , will advance to the quarterfinals.
