Private firm donates free school supplies to Mariveles daycare students

ABOUT 200 daycare center students in Barangay Baseco Country and Sisiman in Mariveles, Bataan, were provided with school supplies by a private firm last Friday.

The school supplies were donated by the Bataan Baseco Joint Venture Inc. (BBJVI) led by its Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Edgardo “Edgie” Ruiz, in cooperation with the Department of Education (DepEd) as part of their CSR or corporate social responsibility.

Engr. Ruiz also thanked the cooperation of barangay officials, the local government of Mariveles, the Bataan provincial government, and the offices of the Bataan 3rd District Rep. Gila Garcia and 2nd District Rep. Abet Garcia for making their project possible.

About two years ago, at the height of the pandemic, in support of the interventions of the province to help curb confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in the province, BBJVI donated cash and relief goods to the province of Bataan and the two villages.

Ruiz reported they made a P500,000 cash donation to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office while Barangay Sisiman and Barangay Baseco Country received P250,000 cash donations.

Also on that same occasion, one of BBJVI’s locators, Mariveles Grains Corp. (MGC), led by Albert Bautista, lent support to the two aforementioned barangays by donating 2,500 packs of relief goods each.

BBJVI has also provided various assistance to other Mariveles villages as part of their COVID-19 and other humanitarian response efforts.
