The start of the year, often a time for upgrades and reassessment, has also prompted homeowners to explore smarter ways to protect their living spaces.
Against this backdrop, PLDT Home Life has launched its Smart Home Starter Kit, positioning the bundle as an accessible entry point for households looking to adopt basic security, safety, and automation features without the complexity or cost of a full-scale smart home system.
The Smart Home Starter Kit brings together essential devices designed to support home monitoring and automation, including smart cameras, smart plugs, and sensors that track movement, access, and environmental conditions. According to PLDT Home Life, the goal is to offer a consolidated solution that enhances household safety while supporting a more connected home environment.
To power the package, PLDT Home Life partnered with electronics brand TP-Link, integrating devices from its Tapo line of smart home products. These devices are designed to work within a single ecosystem, allowing users to manage functions through a centralized app.
At the core of the setup is the Tapo H100 Smart Hub with Chime, which serves as the control center for the system. The hub connects the various smart devices under one wireless network and enables features such as alerts, alarms, and real-time notifications when sensors are triggered.
For home monitoring, the kit includes two camera options. The Tapo C110 Indoor Camera offers 2K video resolution and AI-enabled detection for human motion and sound, allowing users to check in on their homes remotely through their smartphones. The Tapo C120 Indoor/Outdoor Camera, meanwhile, is designed for broader coverage, featuring 2K QHD footage, two-way audio, and AI detection for people, pets, and vehicles, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The Smart Home Starter Kit also includes the Tapo P105 Mini Smart Plug, which allows users to automate appliances by setting schedules or timers remotely, helping manage energy use and daily routines even when away from home.
Addressing environmental safety, the Tapo T310 Temperature and Humidity Sensor enables homeowners to monitor indoor climate conditions in real time. According to PLDT Home Life, this feature can help reduce risks associated with high humidity, such as mold buildup, as well as support energy efficiency and mitigate fire risks during warmer months.
Completing the package is the Tapo T110 Smart Contact Sensor, which sends instant alerts when doors or windows are opened or left ajar for a set period, adding another layer of security to the home.
PLDT Home Life said the Smart Home Starter Kit is designed to support Filipino families as they adopt smarter, more connected lifestyles—offering a balance of security, convenience, and affordability as smart home technology continues to gain traction nationwide.
