THERE’s a Philippine team that succeeded in another Olympiad, but totally not about sports.
A team of bright and outstanding students made the country proud again by winning medals during the first International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO) held recently at the New Clark City in Tarlac.
Four Filipino secondary students, Mohammad Nur Casib, Neil Kyle Maniquis, Jeremiah Auza, and Romher John Fermil, wowed the competition by winning two gold and one silver at the end of the competition.
Together with their coaches Kristine Romallosa-Dean and Jeffrey Tare, the group reaped the rewards of a grueling preparation period that took several months.
Casib bagged a gold medal and was hailed as the highest scorer during the theoretical exam. He was also named the first-ever Nuclear Science Ambassador for being the highest-scoring participant in the competition.
Maniquis, on the other hand, also won a gold medal while Auza secured a silver medal.
Hosted by the Philippines, the first-ever INSO aims to showcase the country’s commitment to advancing nuclear education and fostering international cooperation in the peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology.
