A new low-pressure area (LPA) is forecast to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday night or early Saturday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that cloud clusters observed over the Pacific Ocean developed into an LPA early Friday morning.
“Based on our analysis and the current movement of this low-pressure area, it could enter the Philippine area of responsibility later tonight or early tomorrow,” Estareja said.
As of 4 a.m. on Friday, November 8, the LPA was located approximately 1,975 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon.
Estareja noted that the system has potential to strengthen, adding, “We are not ruling out the possibility of this LPA developing into a tropical depression once it enters PAR.”
He also mentioned that the LPA could bring rain to much of Luzon in the coming days.
