Batangas, Philippines — A minor phreatomagmatic eruption occurred at the Taal Volcano Main Crater on Wednesday afternoon, July 17, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
Based on monitoring data, the eruptive activity happened between 3:01 PM and 3:13 PM, consisting of short-lived phreatomagmatic bursts—interactions between magma and water resulting in steam-driven explosions.
Authorities are closely monitoring the volcano’s activity. As of now, no alert level change has been announced, but residents and tourists are advised to remain vigilant and follow official advisories.
