The Marcos administration is gearing up for the full implementation of the transformation agenda outlined in the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028, following positive economic gains in 2023.
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan, after releasing the Philippine Development Report (PDR) 2023, emphasized the importance of faithfully executing the Plan’s transformation agenda in 2024.
Key strategies in the agenda include accelerating digital transformation, improving connectivity, strengthening interlinkages between agricultural, industrial, and services sectors, establishing a dynamic innovation ecosystem, intensifying public-private partnerships, and enhancing the role of local government units (LGUs) in development.
As the government made significant progress in the first year of the PDP, Secretary Balisacan highlighted the PDR 2023 as a valuable tool for policymakers, the private sector, and civil society to guide the full implementation of the Plan. The report incorporates lessons learned and outlines action plans to ensure goals are met by 2028.
The NEDA, drawing insights from various government agencies, identified key actions for the second year of the PDP rollout. These include enhancing tax administration, promoting trade, ensuring food availability and affordability, improving education access, building sustainable communities, and enhancing the digitalization of government processes.
Secretary Balisacan reiterated the commitment to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s call for swift and punctual government service delivery. The aim is to collaborate across government sectors to accelerate PDP implementation, sustaining momentum and consolidating gains.
The PDR 2023, presented to President Marcos and the Cabinet during the 13th NEDA Board meeting on January 26, 2024, is now available for public review at pdp.neda.gov.ph/PDR-2023.
