TO prevent the influx of huge crowds at the area, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said it will enforce a “cinema approach” in accepting visitors and onlookers at the Manila Bay dolomite beach.
The DENR said with the “cinema approach,” a specific duration in terms of time of visit to the beach for visitors would be imposed. The visitors will also be provided with tickets, allowing them to stay in the area for a maximum of two hours.
The DENR’s decision to adopt the strategy was welcomed by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
PNP chief police General Guillermo Eleazar also commended individuals and groups who have visited the dolomite beach for voicing their concern that the large crowds could pose a threat to everyone’s health and safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are glad that proper guidelines for visitors were adopted at the Dolomite Beach in Manila,” PGen Eleazar said.
“We thank our kababayan, especially the netizens, for being vigilant and for bringing to the attention of the authorities the obvious violations of minimum health protocols. That was a big contribution why the guidelines were revised and corrected,” he added.
The PNP is among the law enforcement agencies that ensures that health and safety protocols are being followed in the dolomite beach.
PGen Eleazar believes that the public raising their sentiments on the dolomite beach only shows the unity among Filipinos to correct the wrong practices amid the battle against the pandemic.
To further avoid crowds, the national government also decided that children 11-years-old and below would no longer be allowed entry to the beach.
