THE Bulacan Provincial Government stepped up its fight against Covid-19 as they intensified their surveillance and monitoring on health protocol violators as the country’s virus cases risen as well as in the said province in the last three days.
On Monday night, Governor Daniel Fernando issued a directive specifically to the police to strictly enforce the minimum health protocols as well as the uniform curfew to ensure that there will be no infection or increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the province.
According to Atty Jayric Amil, Chief of Staff of Fernando, the governor instructed Bulacan Police provincial director Lawrence Cajipe to personally discipline his police in enforcing the health protocol.
It was learned that Gov. Fernando himself noticed the relief of the police and barangay officials in the implementation of the health protocol where the Bulakenyos no longer ignored the threatening increase of the said virus.
According to Amil, the governor has strictly ordered Cajipe and the presidents of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in every towns and cities not to neglect their duty and arrest the individuals who will violate.
Fernando was alarmed following the increase of Covid cases in the province where as of Monday, there were 1,104 active cases in Bulacan from only 895 cases in the past three days.
Included in the governor’s directive is to tightened the security and restriction in the checkpoints at the borders of the province, particularly at the entrances and exits in Metro Manila.
“Sitahin at kung kinakailangan ay arestuhin ang sino mang lalabag sa mga pinag-uutos ng IATF at DOH,” Fernando ordered.
Even the police and barangay officials who willnot follow the directive were also warned by Fernando that they will be punished if caught neglecting in their duties.
The provincial government clarified that there are no recorded cases of infection or community transmission of the United Kingdom (UK) and South African variants of COVID-19 in any barangays in Bulacan.
Meanwhile, the Bulacan Capitol on Tuesday partially paralyzed some of its transactions when it was temporarily closed for disinfection.
It was learned that the security guards of the capitol suddenly restricted and did not allow civilians to enter around 12:00 noon except for those who had important transactions especially those taxpayers.
Although it was temporarily closed for disinfection the employees were not sent home and office works continued.
According to Retired Col. Rivero, head of the Provincial Civil Security and Jail Management Office, two capitol security guards tested positive for Covid-19 while four others were placed under home quarantine that is why the capitol is placed under disinfection.
