Duterte named RJ Jacinto as adviser for telecommunication

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has picked Ramon Jacinto for a tall order seen to make him the administration’s whipping boy against telecom giants.

In an announcement, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said that the President has appointed Jacinto as his adviser for telecommunications, with a rank of Secretary.

Jacinto, who was appointed to his new post on Nov. 25, served as Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs and Information Technology and later became Undersecretary of the Department of information and Communications Technology.

Jacinto campaigned for Duterte and performed in the then Davao City mayor’s rallies during the 2016 presidential elections.
