Driver’s license of rider accused of alleged attempted sex assault on female passenger preventively suspended by LTO

THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) meted a 90-day preventive suspension on the driver’s license of an Angkas rider accused of allegedly trying to molest his passenger in Pasig City last month.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said they already issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against the Angkas rider, and then summoned to appear at the LTO-National Capital Region office as part of the investigation.

This action is part of the investigation that we conducted as soon as we monitored this case in social media,” said Mendoza.

Based on the SCO signed by LTO-NCR Regional Director Roque Verzosa III, the investigation started when the female victim filed a complaint before a popular public service program on radio, where the passenger said she was almost molested by the Angkas rider in Barangay Manggahan on November 12.

When the victim was able to fend off the attempt, the Angkas rider allegedly took her cellular phone and wallet.

During the probe, Mendoza said they identified the Angkas rider through his driver’s license with a registered address in Taytay, Rizal.

He is now under investigation for at least three cases which could lead to the revocation of his license if found guilty,” said Mendoza.

Among the cases are reckless driving and improper person to operate a motor vehicle.

Mendoza said the office of Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista was already informed of the LTO’s action on the case.
