Clan disowns kin’s claim, supports hospital project

A PROMINENT political family in Taytay, Rizal has disowned a relative’s claim seen to run smack against the provincial government’s bid to put up a 245-bed capacity in their locality.

In a Facebook post, Gelo Leonardo Valera, de facto spokesperson of the Valera political clan reiterated their support to Rizal Gov. Rebecca Ynares’ bid to construct what would soon be the 12th Rizal Provincial Hospital facility at the area where a condemned building structure which served as Taytay town hall occupies.

The young Valera said that the sentiment of a relative by the name of Itoh Valera, who has strongly opposed to the hospital project at the old townhall, should not be seen as their family’s stand.

Mula po sa Buong Pamilya ng aking Lolo, Ka Gody Valera, Dating Naglingkod bilang Alkalde sa mga Mamamayan ng Taytay at Nanatili at Mananatiling taga Taytay,” said the family spokesperson.

Relaying his grandfather’s statement, he hinted on their family’s solid support to Ynares’ hospital project.

“Na kami, Ay Buong Puso na Naniniwala at Nagtitiwala sa isa sa mga Napagakandang Programa ng Rizal Provincial Government sa Pamumuno ni Gov. Nini Alcantara-Ynares & Sangguniang Lalawigan ng Rizal (Official) at Mayor Joric Gacula ng Taytay LGU kasama ang Sangguniang Bayan na magtayo ng 245 Bed Capacity Hospital dito sa Bayan ng Taytay,” reads his post on Facebook.

Earlier reports had one of their family members — Itoh Valera, claiming to represent the Valera political plan, strongly objecting to what is deemed to become the biggest public hospital facility in the province.

The latter insisted that the place where the hospital facility would be constructed is a heritage place — something that the Taytay local government unit refuted.

The old municipal townhall is no longer safe to use. In fact, it has been twice certified as condemned,” said Taytay public information office chief Mark Jay Valdez, who hinted on the importance of having an accessible public hospital in the wake of the COVID-19 national health emergency.

Government data had Taytay in the list of high-risk localties because of its proximity to Metro Manila, which the Department of Health classified as COVID-19 epicenter.

Admitting blood ties with Itoh Valera, the young Valera reiterated on their position — to support the construction of the hospital project which has been delayed  because of  their kin’s opposition.

Interestingly, the person whom the young Valera is referring to has long been living in the United states, where he is now an American citizen.
